<B>Abraham Lincoln Autograph Letter Signed</B></I> "<I>A. Lincoln</B></I>". One page, 4.5" x 7", Executive Mansion [Washington D.C.], July 18, 1861. Written to the secretary of treasury, and reads in full: "<I>My Dear Sir, The two Michigan Senators press me to appoint Arthur Edwards Supervising Inspector of Steamboats, in the 8th District. The office is kept at Detroit in their State; and unless you know some reason to the contrary, which is not known to me, let the appointment be made at once.</B></I>" Attached integral leaf, docketed, usual transmittal folds, not affecting signature which is exceptionally nice. A very attractive letter for display.
