<B>Abraham Lincoln Autograph Endorsement Signed "<I>And the plaintiff doth the like / Taylor & Lincoln p.q.</B></I>"</B></I> Written at the end of an Autograph Document Signed by N. H. Purple, attorney for the defendant in Betsey Fergusson vs Peter Fleming, Tazewell Co. (Illinois), no date (docketed May 1854), about two and one-quarter pages, folio, on ruled blue paper. An intriguing record from a breach of promise suit. Fleming here claims that his "<I>marriage contract with the said plaintiff</B></I>" was made on the express condition that she would "<I>mmediately leave Scotland & come to the United States</B></I>" when he notified her, but that she "<I>wholly neglected & refused so to do, and did not nor would come to the United States until more than one year after notice and request…</B></I>" Fleming also claims that Betsey, for a <I>"good and valuable consideration</B></I>", had released him from "<I>all his promises and understandings</B></I>"; further, that he had offered to marry her but she had refused. <I>From the Henry E.
