Abraham Lincoln. Autograph Document
Abraham Lincoln. Autograph Document, with Crossed-out Signature "Lincoln p.d." No place, no date (Champaign Co., Ill.; docketed June 1856), one-third page, folio, on ruled blue paper. A plea in the case of Joseph T. Everett vs Albert Evans, for "trespass quare clausum" (literally, "breaking the close"; unlawful entry or trespass upon land). Evans "says he is not guilty in manner and form" as alleged. Lincoln originally signed this document, but then assiduously blotted out his name with cross-hatching; it is still discernible. From the Henry E. Luhrs Collection. Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.

Please note: An "Autograph Document" means that this document is written in Abraham Lincoln's own handwriting, but does not include his signature.

Shipping: Flat Material, Small (view shipping information)
