<B>Abraham Lincoln Autograph Document Signed</B></I> twice "<I>Peters & Lincoln p.d.</B></I>" No place (Vermilion Co., Ill.), no date (docketed May 1850), one page, folio. In John Lee vs Francis Coburn, the defendant makes a general denial of the plaintiff's allegations and specifically pleads that he has previously "<I>paid to the…plaintiff the…sums of money</B></I>" claimed; Lincoln has written out the text of a receipt given by Lee to Coburn. This case went in Lincoln's favor when, upon being heard by the jury, the plaintiff submitted to a nonsuit. Written on blue paper which has faded nearly to white; some edge roughness and breaking folds, with extensive old glassine repairs on verso. <I>From the Henry E. Luhrs Collection.</B></I>
