<B>Abraham Lincoln Autograph Document Signed</B></I> "<I>Bush & Lincoln p.q.</B></I>" Tazewell Co., Ill., April 1850, two and one-half pages, folio, on blue paper. In Josiah Mathews vs William L. Saltonstall, the former claims that the defendant on 20 September 1849 and "<I>divers other days…with force and arms, broke and entered the close of the…plaintiff…and there forced, broke open, threw down, damaged and spoiled divers fences</B></I>" of $100 value, "<I>and with feet in walking, trod down, trampled upon, consumed and spoiled…grass and corn</B></I>" to an equal value, and with various animals and vehicles did likewise damage "<I>the earth and soil of the said close…</B></I>" In all, Mathews seeks $500 damages. In writing his text Lincoln left several blanks (for dates and legal descriptions of land) which have been accomplished in a clerical hand. Heavy folds on the last page are creased and soiled, but clear of Lincoln's handwriting. <I>From the Henry E. Luhrs Collection.</B></I>
