<B>Abraham Lincoln. Autograph Document Signed twice</B></I> "Beckwith & Lincoln p.d." No place or date [Vermilion Co., Ill.; docketed May 1859], two pages, folio. In Sanford Calvert vs Wm. R. Timmons, Joseph Anderson, Remus McArdle, Barney Day and Albert Heath, the defendants offer to prove upon trial that Timmons was a justice of the peace and that Heath, "<I>believing that an auger had been stolen, and…was concealed in the dwelling house, out-house, garden, yard or other place or places of…plaintiff</B></I>" made a complaint before Timmons, who issued a search warrant that was "<I>placed…in the hands of…Anderson, who was…an acting constable…Anderson summoned…McArdle (who also was a constable) and Day to assist him in making said search…and found the auger…[I]n doing so, they committed no actual violence or damage…[T]he foregoing is the whole of the supposed trespass in the declaration mentioned.</B></I>" Glassine repairs/strengthening on verso of each leaf to weak or slightly broken folds.
