Lawyer and politician (1817–1894) who served as the governor of Pennsylvania during the Civil War, who was the principal force behind the establishment of a national cemetery at Gettysburg and sat on the platform with Lincoln during his famous dedication speech. Bold ink signature from the day that President Lincoln delivered the Gettysburg Address, "A. G. Curtin, Gettysburg, 19 Nov. 1863,” on an off-white 4.75 x 1.75 slip. Nicely double-matted and framed with a print of Lincoln's iconic speech and a descriptive plaque to an overall size of 23.5 x 18.75. In fine condition.
