Abraham Lincoln: An Exceedingly Rare 1860 Campaign Quarter Plate Daguerreotype Image by Alexander Hesler. Taken by Hesler on June 3, 1860, this expressive profile image is one of the most renowned Lincoln portraits. The original now resides in the George Eastman House collection, but this is a fine copy image. As is often the case in such situations, it is a mirror image, with Lincoln facing left; he looks right in the original. But this appears to be a photo of a photo, rather than a photo of a print, and is hence much more desirable. Condition is excellent if somewhat light from certain angles, but when viewed properly it is very strong and bold. The apparently leatherette case has typical surface wear and the lid is clearly separated at the spine. One of the most important Lincoln photographic items we have ever handled. Measures 7.25” x 4.5” when displayed open.

Shipping: Miscellaneous Collectibles, Smal (view shipping information)
