Prolific American daguerreotypist and photographer (1822–1908). ALS signed “A. Bogardus,” one page, lightly-lined, 5.5 x 8.5, personal letterhead, New York, March 22, 1887. Letter to a gentleman. In part: “A notice from you that I had been elected as a non-resident member of your society was a surprise as well as a gratification to me. I had not supposed that my name was known to any extent in the great state of Texas. I enclose and mail with this some photographs of eminent men.” In fine condition, with light wrinkling to upper corners from adhesive residue to reverse. Accompanied by an unsigned original cabinet photo advertising Bogardus’s studio.
