Boxing Hall of Famer (1884-1970) who was featherweight boxing champion of the world 1901–1912. Attell later became one of the instigators of the 1919 Chicago Black Sox scandal. Gripping vintage matte-finish 14 x 11 photo of the brutal conclusion of Attell’s bout against Harlem Tommy Murphy in San Francisco, California, on August 3, 1912, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “To a Real Fellow James M. Wiggins, From the little Champ, Abe Attell.” Light creases, some wrinkling, scattered soiling and staining, and some mild handling wear, otherwise fine condition.
