Aaron Copland Signed Letter to Joseph Harnell. Written on his personal stationery, Copland's letter to a young composer named Joseph Hittelman is apologetic yet encouraging: "...I am personally sorry not to have you with us at Tanglewood this summer. Please don't interpret this to mean that your talent for composition is being put into question..." Hittelman would later change his last name to Harnell, and go on to become a famous band leader and television music composer; yet in 1948, the 24 year-old student must have been frustrated by Copland's letter. However, that summer the determined protg somehow wound up at Boston University's Tanglewood Institute, and studied under Copland for that matter. In Very Good condition with some yellowing and heavy mailing creases. Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.

Shipping: Flat Material, Small (view shipping information)
