Revolutionary War soldier, lawyer, senator, and vice president under Jefferson (1756–1836), probably best known for mortally wounding Alexander Hamilton in a duel on July 11, 1804. Bank check, 6.5 x 3, filled out in another hand and signed by Burr, payable to Mich. Roberts for £3.4.0, September 10, 1789. Check is affixed to a larger mount, and in turn matted with a portrait of Burr to an overall size of 11.5 x 17.5. In very good condition, with an ink cancellation through portion of signature, rusty paperclip mark to body, trimmed edges, and a repaired tear to right edge.
