Originally known as the GOLDEN EAGLE BREWERY COMPANY which was built in 1879, was partially destroyed by Tombstone's first major fire on June 22nd, 1881. The business did not reopen and in May 1882 another fire destroyed the rest of the building. Frederick Wehrfritz built another building on the corner of Fifth and Allen street, and on July 23rd 1882 the Crystal Palace opened its doors for business. The Saloon was to attract the "Finer" elements of Tombstone with elegant decor, crystal tableware, finest stock of wines, liquors and cigars. Open 24 hours the Crystal palace attracted everyone from Doctors , Lawyers , Mining Officials and anyone who wanted to rub elbows with them. On the second floor of the Crystal Palace was the Office of the U.S. Deputy Marshall, and Tombstones Marshall - VIRGIL EARP. This token is an actual artifact from the Classic Era of Tombstone. Listed in Spooner 2010 Arizona Catalog as TOM-135 Octagonal Aluminum 26mm R9 (3-6 pieces known)
