An Arizona token expert once said, “if you put this token to your ear, you can hear the sounds of 1880s Tombstone.” Bob Hatch and John Campbell opened a billiard parlor in 1880, on Allen Street. Hatch was a very colorful character and was a friend of the Earps. It is said that Bob Hatch followed the Earps to the famous gunfight and removed the gun from the hands of a dying Billy Clanton. On March 18, 1882 Hatch was playing a game of Billiards with Morgan Earp with Wyatt Earp in attendance at Campbell and Hatch Saloon & Billiard Hall. Suddenly two bullets shot through the glass of a lock door, one lodged in the wall above Wyatt Earp's head, the other passed through Morgan Earp and lodged in a bystander’s thigh. The dying Morgan Earp was able to whisper to his brother "I cannot stand this is the last game of pool I will ever play." In May of 1882 the second major fire in Tombstone burned down the Campbell & Hatch Saloon and Billiard Parlor. This Token is an actual artifact from the Earp era in Tombstone. Probably the best classic token from the Tombstone Wild West days connected to the famous Earps. Listed in Spooner 2010 Arizona Catalog as TOM-105 Brass 23mm R9 (3-6 pieces known). GF a drink.
