This 48 x 68 100% wool Navajo made rug features designs typical of Teec Nos Pos weavings. The weaver used red, orange, dark green, grey-brown, natural, and brown-black wools to weave the coiled triangle and diamond shield patterns and central whirling log motif. Often confused for a swastika, the whirling log symbol is an ancient pattern found throughout native, Tibetan, and Turkish cultures as a sign generally denoting abundance and prosperity, and referring to the four cardinal directions. This rug has an applied fringe at the corners and is very tightly woven. A beautiful example of Navajo weaving, which was once displayed at the High Desert Museum in Bend Oregon. HKA#63308
