Lot of 9. 1.)The Magma Chief Copper Company Stock. Cert No.9840 for 1000 shares issued to Richard W. Dyer in 1919. U/C. The Sombrero Butte Mine in the Copper Creek mining district, near Mammoth, Pinal County. 2.)Magma Copper Company Stocks (4). The original mine, a silver and copper producer, was known as the Silver Queen Mine, located near Superior, at the foot of an escarpment known as “Apache Leap”, in Pinal County. The mine was bought by William Boyce Thompson in 1910, who later organized Newmont Mining Company. The production of the mine was greatly increased during World War I, because of the demand of copper. In the 1940s, several thousand shares were owned by Newmont Mining Company. A.) It is now the largest copper producer in the U.S. with annual production of 500,000 tons of copper. Very Good.
