Lot of 2: 1.) New Cornelia Copper Company Stock. 1909 DE. Cert No. B53687 for 100 shares issued to Ephraim L. Brickhouse in 1924. Hole-punch cancelled. Mine located in Ajo, Pima County AZ. The mines of Ajo are probably the oldest mines in Arizona, and were known before the Gadsen purchase in 1853 when they were part of Mexico. In the early days silver was produced, but at the time the certificate was issued the company was mining low grade copper. The founder named the mine after his wife Cornelia. 2.) Cornelia Consolidated Copper Company Stock. 1916 DE. Cert No. 972 for 200 shares issued to Minor E. Chamberlain in 1922. Signed by William O. Nickie, treasurer and Joseph A. Horister(sp?). Fancy green border, pale green background.
