Includes 1) Introduction by director, J.W. Powell with an accompanying report on the repair of the ruins at Casa Grande, among others. With papers on 2) "Stone Implements of the Potomac Chesapeake Tidewater Province," Holmes, William Henry, with discussion on manufacture, general features, and distribution of flaked stone implements, battered and abraded stone implements, and incised or cut stone utensils. 3) "The Siouan Indians: A Preliminary Sketch," McGee, W.J. McGee was noted to have been the first ethnographer to land on Tiburon island to study the Seri Indians. After they fled upon his arrival, he asked for information on the tribe from a band employed by a nearby ranch. McGee also wrote the introduction to the Siouan papers by the late Rev. J .Owen Dorsey [American Anthropologist, 1912] before taking on the research himself. The following is the Dorsey Paper on the Siouan: 3) "Siouan Sociology: A Posthumous Paper," Dorsey, J. Owen, Includes the Dakota tribes with customs, and 16 other tribes from North America. With diagrams of various tribal camping circles. 4) "Tusayan Katcinas," Fewkes, Jesse Walter. With tabular view of celebrations, classification of ceremonials, and comparative dances. 5) "The Repair of Casa Grande Ruin, Arizona," Mindeleff, Cosmos. Mindeleff recounts the first government sponsored preservation of a prehistoric site. He spent a number of years in the area before moving to Europe and becoming a foreign correspondent for New York newspapers [aaa.org].
