Married in February 1864, Elizabeth was with him at the front during the last year of the Civil War, and also accompanied him in his nine years' on the Western frontier. Two pages, two-sided. Mrs. Custer writes: “My Dear Mrs. Skinner,” Regarding a speaking engagement. The letter reads "In part: I am preparing a paper on the Civil War that will take less than the ten minutes assigned to me, I think. I chose this subject because…the least little incident of Mr. Lincoln seems to be appreciated…you are very good to take on such care for our sakes. But..all you are giving of yourself will be appreciated. Affectionately yours, Elizabeth B. Custer.
