AUSTRIAN NETHERLANDS: AE jeton, 1790, de Coster-903, commemorating the Brabant Revolution of 1789, EX DECRETO COMITIORVM FLANDRIAE 1790 ("From the decree of the Committee of Flanders") // JVGO AVSTRIACO EXCVSSO RELIGIONIS ET PATRIAE LIBERTATE VENDICATA SOLI DEO HONOR 1789 ("The Austrian yoke was thrown off by the liberty of religion and country, vindicated by the honor of God alone"), rich brown patina with traces of red, PCGS graded MS63 BN. The Brabant Revolution (1789-90) was a short-lived insurrection in the Austrian Netherlands (present-day Belgium). It briefly led to the overthrow of Habsburg rule and the establishment of the United Belgian States. Austria managed to put an end to the revolution by late 1790.
