Cal. 70. NSN. Bbl. 14 1/2". Blade front sight. Fixed rear sight. Austrian 1851 cavalry carbine used by both sides of the American Civil War. Lock marked "851". Left side of bbl. marked "3/52" & "853". Finger curl trigger guard. Walnut stock with left side saddle ring & cheekpiece. Ramrod present that appears to be an old replacement. CONDITION: refinished stock has old varnish with a few repairs, some black staining, scattered dings & handling marks. Metal has a silvery-gray cleaned appearance with scattered oxidation, dings & light pitting. Action appears functional when hand cycled. Bore shows scattered notable pitting & oxidation but evident rifling. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Nicholas Apergis (01-27462/MJC). ANTIQUE. $300-500.
