AUBURN, NEW YORK NEWSPAPER FLONGES, 1918.
There are three WWI-era front-page flonges (molds) from an Auburn, New York newspaper. These are negative molds made of some form of cellulose and used to create the lead plates from which the newspaper was printed. They can be read directly and reveal what front page news the American public was seeing at the war's end. Headlines read: "Paris is bombarded"; "British French and Americans landed on the coast of Russia"; "Germany defense has fallen." Size: 21in. x 16 1/2in. each. Condition: Fair to good with some losses to cellulose.
