ANTIQUE: WM UHLINGER .32 CALIBER POCKET PISTOL marked D.D.CONE / WASHINGTON, D.C. on the top of the barrel. It has serial number 4158 stamped on the butt, cylinder, loading gate, spur trigger & underside of barrel; and it also has a five-inch octagon barrel. The grips are made from rosewood - chip out of left side top.Uhlinger manufactured pistols between 1861 and 1865. It is estimated that he manufactured approximately 10,000 pistols in three variations, long cylinder 22 caliber rimfire, short cylinder 22 caliber rimfire and a 32 caliber rimfire. Since Smith and Wesson owned the patient for this pistol, Uhlinger used many trade names to avoid detection. D. D. Cone is an agent marking for distribution purposes. D. D. Cone is seen on several different revolvers of various manufactures. Overall a fine example of a civil war period Uhlinger.
