A Victorian sterling silver salver with family crest or coat of arms, made by the Barnard Brothers, London, England, 1841.


Measures 8 5/8 inches in diameter (22cm) and weighs 375g.


Circular, wavy rim with modelled leaves and scrolls. Roundly stepped down towards the central plateau, which is engraved with a rich pattern of interlocking foliage. The centre similarly engraved with a crest and banner. Stands on 3 scroll feet.


Underneath is hallmarked with a lion, leopard, date letter f, Queen Victoria's head in profile and maker's mark in 4 lobes with EEJW respectively in each lobe, surrounding a central B (for Edwd, Edwd, John and Wm Barnard).


Condition is very good. THe engraving is slightly worn due to age, but there is no damage/restoration.
