ANDY WARHOL'S PARTY-GOING POLAROID CAMERA
AND WARHOL (1928 - 1987) American artist and the founder of pop art who gained instant notoriety with his depictions of the Campbell soup can and Brillo boxes. Polaroid SX-70 Land Camera once owned by pop artist Any Warhol, widely used by him to caputure celebrity snapshots, one of his favorite pastimes. The camera, which may still be operable, also bears a GE Flashbar. This camera was given by Warhol to his longtime friend and associate, renowned party-giver, nightlife promoter and collector of celebrity art, Robert Baird Jones (1953-2006). Jones was also a celebrity gossip columnist and well-known Warhol groupie, hosting lavish parties at storied nightclubs of the 1970s including Studo 54, Danceteria, The Palladium, and the Limelight. Jones, known to be wildly eccentric, was the privileged son of PEOPLE magazine founder and legendary TIME Magazine editor Cranston Jones. Included is a letter written by Jones in 2001 attesting to his friendship with Warhol, that this camera was owned by the great artist Warhol and last used by him in 1986 at the famed Limelight nightclub in Manhattan, and that Warhol had gifted the camera to him. Also included are two reprints of period photographs of Warhol and Jones partying at various locales. A great Warhol relic which accompanied the artist on every evening foray.

Estimate: $2,500 - 3,500.
