<hr align=left size=5 width=33% color=#778899>(1767-1845). Forceful seventh President of the United States (1829-37), the first to gain office by a direct appeal to the mass of voters. He served as Commander of the South during the War of 1812 and gained military fame through campaigns against the Creek Indians and a victory over the British in New Orleans in 1815. ALS as President, 1p, 8vo, Washington, Jun 15, 1829. To Daniel Garland, an agent for the governor of VA, promising an order to release a fugitive from the Washington jail into his custody. In full, “<i>The President will make an order for the delivery of John Dungy to the agent on his producing the certificate of the Governor of Virginia that the proceedings in this case are authentic, but such order for delivery will be conditional that is to say on payment of fees</i>...” Boldly penned and signed. Weak folds at center of top portion reinforced with paper tape on verso; else VG/Fine example. Dungy was wanted for the murder of his wife. On Jul 8, 1828, the Governor of VA had issued a proclamation calling for his arrest, offering a reward of $75.

11. All bidding is done in a competitive manner. The
winning bid will always be one bidding increment
over the second highest bid. The minimum
acceptable bid for any lot is 50% of the low
estimate given in the item description or $25,
whichever is higher.

12. Payment is expected immediately upon receipt of
invoice. All accounts are payable to Signature
House. Payment must be made in U.S. funds. Wire
transfer details are available upon request.
West Virginia residents will pay a sales tax of
6% unless a resale number is filed with us prior
to the closing date. For sales outside of the USA
a credit card is requested.

13. Shipment is made via U.S. Postal Service or
Airborne unless otherwise instructed. Handling,
shipping and insurance charges are added to the
invoice. Oversize and foreign shipments are subject
to increased charges. All items are shipped
immediately upon receipt of payment.

14. Golden Guarantee: All material is returnable within
seven days providing that it comes back in the same
condition. There is a lifetime guarantee on
authenticity to the original purchaser. The item(s)
must be returned with two letters denying it’s
authenticity by expert authenticators acceptable
