ANDREW JACKSON</b> (1767 - 1845) Seventh President of the United States, "Old Hickory" became a national hero in his defense of New Orleans and as president encouraged Western expansion and paid off the national debt. Partly-printed D.S. as President 1p. folio, Washington, July 1, 1836, a scarce ornate military commission appointing Richard B. Sereven as "<i>First Lieutenant in the Fourth Regiment of Infantry</i>". Co-signed by <b>LEWIS CASS</b> as Secretary of War. Regally matted in with gray accents with a large portrait engraving of Jackson and biographical plaque, and set into a dark wood frame.
