WILLIAM S. WINDER. Assistant Adjutant Commandant of the notorious Andersonville prison, the son of Brigadier General John H. Winder. War-date A.E.S. penned on the verso of a letter from Capt. D. H. Wood, 1p. 4to., Richmond, April 9, 1862, regarding the fact that Capt. A. C. Godwin, Provost Marshall of Richmond, refuses to grant him a blank passport. In full: ""Capt. Godwin will please State his objections to granting passports as spoken of within. By order of Genl Winder W. S. Winder A.D.L."". Very good.
