ANCIENT RELICS
A fine pair of ancient relics, the first a scarce silver coin used to pay soldiers fighting the crusades in the Holy Land during the 11th century during the rule of King Henry the Black. The small, wafer-thin silver coin measures 15mm in diameter and was minted in Lucca, Italy, ca. 1046. It bears (illegible) lettering on one side and simple circular motif on the verso. Very good condition. Along with a Roman bronze fish hook from the Herodian through early Christian era, and dating from the time of St. Paul ca. 64 B.C.E.. The hook is approx. 1 1/2" long and bears a barb at its tip, the same type used by fisherman in the Sea of Galilee at that period of time. Very good condition, two pieces.

Estimate: $150 - 200.
