This form of table is inspired by ancient Roman models which were first copied during the 16th century. A table of similar form but with winged lions, probably designed by Antonio Asprucci, is at Galleria Borghese, Rome. Asprucci redecorated the interior of Villa Borghese between 1775 and 1785
