AN ALLEN'S PATENT SINGLE-SHOT PERCUSSION PISTOL CA. 1837
An Allen's Patent single-shot percussion pistol ca. 1837. Bore is 6mm in diameter. S/N 469. The pistol possesses a unique bar hammer design that was patented by manufacturer Ethan Allen. The bar hammer is stamped 'ALLENS PATENT'. There is very minor staining across the otherwise polished barrel and other metal components but very little pitting for its age. There is fine engraving on both sides of the pistol above the trigger well, as well as some basic engraving work on the backstrap. Just above the trigger well on the right side there is an indentation in the steel. The base of the barrel is stamped 'PATENTED', '1837', 'CAST-STEEL', '469'. The wooden handle has some minor wear but is in good condition. All mechanisms function well.
