AMES POWDER FLASK. This Army powder flask is one of the variants of the mid-19th century (1830s-40s) Ames "Peace Flasks." It has the shield-breasted eagle at top, clasped hands in a circle of 26 stars and 13 points on the sunburst. The bottom US shield has helmet, weapons and flag drape behind and around it. (Riling # 857-59) Brass, 9" high, wear to high points of eagles, replacement canvas strap. May be missing outer slide.
