Martha Hughes Sibley was born September 7, 1819, to John Sibley (1772-1831) and Sarah Brooks Sibley. Born in Cumberland County, New Jersey, where her parents were married in 1798. Martha married James Madison Mulliken (born 1800, Maryland) in Putnam County, Indiana, where they raised three children.
