Mary Jackson Moody, 1801, silk on linen. Double chimney house, neatly placed between two trees and a pair of sheep. Mary signed her work with her full name and gave her age as 10 years old. Good color. In a frame, 21"h. 19"w.

The only girl named Mary Jackson Moody found during genealogical research was the daughter of Samuel Moody. He was born in Pennsylvania in1744, moving to Henrico County, Virginia, where Mary was born. Dropping the Jackson, Mary Moody was a common name in the late 18th-early 19th century.
