AMERICAN RESTOCKED RARE NEW JERSEY CONTRACT OF
1756 FIRST MODEL BROWN BESS BY WILSON. Cal. 72. NSN. Bbl. 45". Sourced from Brown Bess is stamped w/ London proofs & "RW" at breech end. Top is engraved "LONDON". Early style lock w/ rounded arched plate is engraved "Wilson" in front of rnd. bodied serpentine cock. Lock also features bridled friction frizzen and feather spring w/ pineapple finial. American walnut stock in early 1800's style extends to muzzle & is pinned to bbl. & brass mounted. Heavy butt plate w/ steeple type top spur is stamped "NEW JERSEY". Sideplate is of first model rounded style. Trigger guard, ramrod pipes & thimble are brass, but styled contemporary w/ restock. CONDITION: good. Original flintlock bbl. Metal parts w/ dark brown to black patina w/ considerable pitting at breech end of bbl. around touch hole. Lock reconverted from percussion. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of Gary Parietti.
