ALMOHAD: Anonymous, silver square dirham (1.57g), AH 558-668. Obverse "la ilaha illallah, al-amru kulluhu lillah, la quwwata illa billah" ("there is no god except Allah, all matter belongs to Allah, there is no power except by Allah"), reverse "Allahu rabbuna, Muhammadun rasuluna, Al-Mahdiyyu imamuna" ("Allah is our lord, Muhammad is our messenger, Al-Mahdi is our imam"). A-496. Brilliant uncirculated and one of the nicest examples we have handled. Rare in this quality.
As Album notes, this denomination is often heavily worn due to prolonged usage, which makes it quite difficult to find such high quality and exquisite specimens.
