ALLIED FORCES HIGH COMMISSION BUILDING SIGN
Building sign for the Allied High Commission in Germany. Unique relic from post-war Germany. Adorned with three enameled shields representing the United Kingdom, The United States of America, and France. The enameled shields are set into a brass frame with brass lettering attached to a metal plate, 3.75 x 14.5 inches. The bottom tips of the UK and French seal are lightly dented. Very good. The Allied High Commission was established by the United States, the United Kingdom, and France after the 1948 breakdown of the Allied Control Council to regulate and supervise the development of the newly established Federal Republic of Germany. The Commission was located at the Hotel Petersberg near Bonn, Germany.
