On gaining the throne, he dismantled his father's reforms, persecuted the Jews and advanced into Central Asia. Handsome, partly-printed D.S. "<i>Alexander</i>" 2pp. legal folio, Moscow, March 15, 1883, an award of the order of St. Duke Alexander Nevsky given to the prominent Russian mathematician Pafnuty Lvovich Chebyshev (1821-1894), whose work on prime numbers included the determination of the number of primes not exceeding a given number. Boldly signed by Alexander on the second page, and adorned with a fine paper seal. A central fold, else very good.<b> $400-500</b>
