ALBERT KESSELRING: (1885 - 1960) Field Marshal in the Luftwaffe and at Nuremburg was tried for war crimes. Death sentence commuted due to ill health. Kesselring was the first German general to surrender an Axis front to the Allies, on May 2, 1945, to Gen. Maxwell D. Taylor. Parlty-printed D.S. as General of Flyers, 3pp. small folio, Berlin, Apr. 31, 1938, a lenghty promotion for one Rudolf Schoenert as a Lieutenant in the Luftwaffe with numerous annotations in various hands. Two file holes at left margin, paperclip stain at top, usual folds, otherwise very good. Together with MAXWELL D. TAYLOR (1901 - 1987), his signature on an envelope. Two pieces, very good condition.
