AL CAPONE`S DICE
(1899 - 1947) American gangster and Chicago mob giant, he orchestrated the St. Valentine's Day Massacre, wiping-out Bugs Moran's gang and ruled over the nation's largest criminal enterprise. Capone was eventually nabbed on tax evasion charges and passed a comfortable eight years in prison. Certainly one the best Capone relics available, a pair of dice owned and used by Al Capone! The dice each measure 1/2" on each side, made of a green composite plastic-like material with white dots. Interestingly, one of the dice bears "5's" on every side! These fine relics originate from the estate of Ralph Capone, Al's closest brother who was also tied to organized crime. The two spent a great deal of time in Mercer, Wisconsin for rest and relaxation, with Ralph settling in the resort town permanently. When Al was sent "up the river", Ralph was entrusted with the care of some of his possessions, including these dice. Upon Ralph's death, the relics were passed on to his widow, Madeleine Capone, and thence sold via an agent at Butterfield's Arms and Armor sale of July, 2000, to our consignor. The lot is sold with a copies of the Butterfield catalog listing, a letter from Madeleine sending the relics to her agent, and a press released from Butterfields. A great Capone relic, a sure winner!
