Incorporated in Washington. Cert. #2097, issued to W.B. Cormack for 100 shares at Chicago, Illinois in 1912. Signed by J.S. Steever as president and H.P. Elliott as secretary. Black on crème with orange under print and borders. 12” x 8”. U/C. Large, photo like vignette captioned, “Elizabeth Mine” at the top. View is of miners working an arrastra. Western Bank Note and Eng. Co. Chicago. The company operated in the Chitina district, with offices at Valdez, Alaska. The company held 35 patented claims, 5 mill sites with U.S. government titles and 84 unpatented claims, over 2,500 acres, covering over 6 miles in Elliott Creek valley. Elliott creek is an affluent of the Kotsina river, about 15 miles above junction of the Kotsina with the Copper river (1918 Mines Handbook). The company operated the Elliott creek mine as well as the Elizabeth and Ely tunnels. Although the company was still operating by 1924, it is unclear whether they ultimately ever produced anything. Some extra creases on the right side. VF
