This U.S. promotional-only 7-inch single of AC/DC’s “Touch Too Much” was released by Atlantic Records in 1979 under catalog number 3644. Issued to radio stations and marked “Promotion Copy – Not For Sale,” the record features the track in mono on one side and stereo on the other, a common industry practice designed to maximize radio compatibility. Written by Angus Young, Malcolm Young, and Bon Scott, “Touch Too Much” appeared on the band’s Highway to Hell album, the final AC/DC record to feature Bon Scott before his passing in early 1980. Produced by Robert John “Mutt” Lange, the song captured the sleeker, more polished sound that propelled AC/DC toward their global breakthrough. While “Highway to Hell” was the first AC/DC LP to achieve major success in the United States, this promotional pressing of “Touch Too Much” was circulated exclusively for airplay, making it a collectible piece of the band’s pre-Back in Black era history.
