AC/DC - Rare Atlantic Records Inter-Office Memo - 3373
This is an original (File Copy) inner-office memo from Atlantic Records, dated April 15, 1980, and addressed to Mr. Peter Mensch, a notable music industry figure. The memo on official Atlantic Records letterhead featuring the company’s classic swirling logo in the top left corner.
In the top center margin, the memo is hand-marked “File” in blue ink with a handwritten note “AC/DC.”
The memo’s subject line references the AC/DC album “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap.” The memo confirms that while Atlantic would prepare the album, its release was being placed on indefinite hold. It notes two substitutions to the original track list: “Soul Stripper” and “Jailbreak” would replace “Rocker” and “Problem Child.”
The body of the memo reads:
Dear Peter,
Re: Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap Album
Following on our recent conversation, I confirm that Atlantic will prepare the Dirty Deeds album but that this album will be on indefinite hold. I confirm that the album cover will be in the original form but two tracks will be substituted, i.e. Soul Stripper and Jailbreak will replace Rocker and Problem Child.
Best regards,
Phil Carson
