Offered here is a unique, one-of-a-kind mock-up concert poster for AC/DC’s February 9, 10, and 11, 1982 performances at the Seattle Center Coliseum. The poster itself measures 21.25" x 12", while the overall frame measures 17.75" x 28". This striking piece features a live stage image of Brian Johnson with an added cut-out and applied image of Angus Young, a hand-colored AC/DC logo, and the applied logo of Seattle’s KISW radio station. Created in the era before digital design tools, this mock-up represents the hands-on graphic design methods of the time, when cut-and-paste techniques were used to build promotional artwork. Adding to its uniqueness, the piece was formally presented to Perry Cooper in appreciation for his help in making the AC/DC poster a success.
Perry Cooper was a well-known publicity executive at Atlantic Records who worked closely with AC/DC and many other major artists during the 1970s and 1980s. His role in promoting the band during their rise in the United States makes this piece not only a fascinating artifact of early 1980s concert promotion but also a meaningful connection to one of the key figures behind AC/DC’s success in America.
