This is a U.S. promotional-only 7-inch single of AC/DC’s “Guns for Hire,” released by Atlantic Records in 1983 under catalog number 7-89774. Issued to radio stations as a promo copy and marked “Not For Sale,” the record features the same track on both sides in stereo. “Guns for Hire” was written by Angus Young, Malcolm Young, and Brian Johnson, and appeared on the 1983 album Flick of the Switch. The song was released as the lead single from the album, reaching No. 84 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and No. 37 on the UK Singles Chart. Produced by the band themselves, this track showcased AC/DC’s stripped-down, back-to-basics hard rock style following their collaboration with Robert John “Mutt” Lange on earlier records. This promotional pressing highlights the label’s effort to push the single for radio airplay in the competitive early-1980s rock market.
