This is an original German gold sales award for AC/DC’s landmark album Back in Black. Measuring approximately 19.25" x 19.25", the award was presented to drummer Phil Rudd by the Bundesverband der Phonographischen Wirtschaft (the German Phonographic Industry Association) in recognition of sales exceeding 500,000 copies in Germany. The display features a silver-toned record with Atlantic Records label, mounted above an engraved plaque detailing the certification. Issued in 1980, this piece commemorates the phenomenal commercial success of Back in Black, one of the best-selling rock albums of all time, and represents a rare, band-member–presented award from the early 1980s.
