This original 1981 Western Union telegram, along with its official “File Copy,” captures a heartfelt moment between Atlantic Records and AC/DC’s legendary lead guitarist Angus Young. Dated December 2, 1981, the telegram was sent to Madison Square Garden just hours before the band’s performance, and addressed to be delivered backstage to Angus prior to 7 p.m.

Sent by Ahmet Ertegun, Doug Morris, Sheldon Vogel, and Davis Glew, some of the most influential executives in music history, the message extends a warm and enthusiastic salute to Angus, expressing confidence that the evening will be “more than a ‘memorable’” one. The telegram ends with a rousing message of support: “All at Atlantic Records supports and ‘salutes’ you... and Atlantic family.”

This piece is a rare, tangible artifact of rock history, connecting the inner circle of Atlantic Records to one of AC/DC’s most iconic eras. A powerful collectible for fans of the band or anyone fascinated by the golden age of rock 'n' roll and label-artist camaraderie.
