This original “File Copy” Atlantic Records inter-office memo, dated September 22, 1980, was sent from Stu Ginsburg to Perry Cooper as a direct follow-up to concerns raised in a September 18 memo regarding sluggish ticket sales for AC/DC’s concerts in Detroit and at the Nassau Coliseum in New York. In the memo, Ginsburg details a call to Carol Kaye at AC/DC’s management office to arrange press coverage aimed at boosting sales, only to be informed via Cliff Burnstein that no press would be set up for those dates. Carbon copied to multiple key Atlantic executives, this internal document offers a rare glimpse into behind-the-scenes tour promotion efforts during AC/DC’s rise to international rock dominance in the early 1980s.
