<hr align=left size=5 width=33% color=#778899><h3 align=center>73 words as circuit attorney</h3>(1809-1865). Sixteenth President of the United States (1860-65) who led the nation through the Civil War. ADS, 1p, 4to, n.p., [Oct 30, 1857]. Legal impleading as associate attorney with Moses & Drake. On lined paper, in full, “...<i>And the said defendant, Zacheriah Deck, comes and defends the force and injury where, when, etc, and says plaintiff actio non because he says he is not guilty in manner and form as is in the declaration alleged; and of this he puts himself upon the county etc</i>...” Boldly penned and signed “<i>Moses & Drake & Lincoln</i>...” Docketed on verso in his holograph, “<i>Zacharia Deck, impleaded Etc</i> / <i>Plea</i> / <i>Hezekia Ballah</i>” above clerical filing and date. As one of the most distinguished and successful attorneys in the state, Lincoln was popular on the IL circuit. For three months of the year he practiced at county seats where local attorneys retained the shrewd but fair lawyer as co-counsel in their cases. Normal folds with two small separations with negligible paper loss; minor occasional foxing; o/w a Fine example. The Library of Congress has in its collection of historical documents another holograph legal document by Lincoln bearing the signature of the same clerk and filed one day later than this instrument.

11. All bidding is done in a competitive manner. The
winning bid will always be one bidding increment
over the second highest bid. The minimum
acceptable bid for any lot is 50% of the low
estimate given in the item description or $25,
whichever is higher.

12. Payment is expected immediately upon receipt of
invoice. All accounts are payable to Signature
House. Payment must be made in U.S. funds. Wire
transfer details are available upon request.
West Virginia residents will pay a sales tax of
6% unless a resale number is filed with us prior
to the closing date. For sales outside of the USA
a credit card is requested.

13. Shipment is made via U.S. Postal Service or
Airborne unless otherwise instructed. Handling,
shipping and insurance charges are added to the
invoice. Oversize and foreign shipments are subject
to increased charges. All items are shipped

14. Golden Guarantee: All material is returnable within
seven days providing that it comes back in the same
condition. There is a lifetime guarantee on
authenticity to the original purchaser. The item(s)
must be returned with two letters denying it’s
