Obverse inscription "la ilaha illallah al-malikul-haqq, muhammadun rasulullah, musa" ("there is no god except Allah, the true King, Muhammad is the messenger of Allah, Musa"). Reverse inscription "al-imam abi is'haq amir al-mu'minin barmaki" ("the leader, Abu Is'haq, commander of the faithful, Barmaki"). A-W1493. Very fine. Extremely rare.

Musa Al-Barmaki was appointed as governor of Sind by Ghassan b. 'Abbad in 831 CE. He was a member of the prominent Barmakid family, who were in service of the Abbasid Caliphate.
